The Whistler is a waffle knit beanie in 50% rPET and 50% acrylic or polyester non-woven. The rPET is recycled polyester made by melting down existing plastic bottles and similar sources into new fiber. Thread and label are not rPET.
Waffle knit is the texture worth paying attention to. The raised grid traps more air than a flat knit, so it runs warmer for the same weight, and it photographs with visible texture rather than reading as a flat blank. Between this and the cable knit pom version, the waffle is the more unisex of the two. One size fits most.
